Yoam and its logo represent the grandmother of one of us. With her image, we seek to highlight the value of our own traditions, which are passed down from generation to generation at our family tables.
The initial focus of our dishes was centered on Vietnamese food, but then we began to expand our menu to new flavors, understanding that the gastronomic fusion of different influences is one of the characteristic values of these types of Asian culinary traditions. Thus, we incorporated dishes such as the Korean Corn Dog, Korean Fried Chicken, Japanese Ramen, and Vietnamese Pho Bo.
The story of Yoam, our restaurant, is a journey of transformations and challenges that we face with joy, understanding that cultural diversity and the fusion of traditions have an enriching effect on our experiences and our lives.
We are a couple originally from Vietnam, and in 2017 we were living in Switzerland, where we had migrated to study hotel management. The experience of living outside our country made us realize and appreciate even more the flavors of our region.
This was amplified when we discovered Porto: the friendliness and warmth of its people, its rhythm, the cultural diversity that can be appreciated in all its streets, and the fusion of languages, traditions, and cultures convinced us that this was the place to embark on a project like Yoam, and contribute to the spirit of the city that welcomed us.
